Your email address.

The waitlist is the only personal data we hold. Metral has no product accounts yet, and the site sets no cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner on it and why this page is short enough to read.

What we collect

Your email address, your first name if you chose to give it, the time you submitted the form, and where the visit came from — a utm_source tag on the link you followed, or the site that linked you. We also store the browser user-agent string your browser sends with the request. We do not store your IP address.

How we count visits

We use Vercel Analytics to count page views and to see how far down the page people read. It sets no cookies, records no IP address and builds no profile of you — it cannot tell one visit from another across days, and it is not capable of identifying you. Nothing it records is attached to your email address, and blocking it changes nothing about how the site works.

Why

To send you two emails and no others: one confirming you are on the list, straight away, and one when Metral opens up. We do not sell, rent or share the list, and there is no newsletter attached to it. The lawful basis is your consent, given by submitting the form.

The first email greets you by name. If you did not give us one, we take it from your email address where that address plainly contains a first name, and greet you without one where it does not.

Where it is kept, and for how long

In a Postgres database hosted by Neon in London. Sending the emails means handing your address to Resend, our email provider, who process it on our behalf; their account records are held in the United States. We keep your address until we launch and send that second email, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. Once the waitlist has been used, it is deleted.

If you book a demo

From 2 October the site asks you to book a demo instead of joining the list. That is a plain email link — there is no booking tool, no embedded calendar and no third party in the middle. Your message reaches the same mailbox as everything else, and we keep it for as long as we are talking to you. If that ever changes and we do put a scheduling tool in, this page will name it before it appears on the site, not after.

If you start a free trial

The free trial's form, on the Metral app, checks that a person rather than a script is asking, using Cloudflare Turnstile. To do that Cloudflare processes your IP address and some details of your browser and device on our behalf, for that check alone; it is not used to advertise to you or to follow you across sites. The form sends nothing if the check is refused. We keep your email address to send the link that sets up your trial, and, if it bounces or you mark our email as spam, to make sure we never email it again.

Being removed

Email hello@metral.co.uk and we will delete your address and confirm it. You do not need to give a reason. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
